Emily is an experienced and passionate performer, with a natural flair for teaching. Classically trained in piano and singing from a young age (she has achieved Grade 8 ABRSM in both instruments), she realised her dream of singing on stage at the tender age of 12 in a production of 'Cinderella' with the Welsh National Opera, playing the title role. She went on to sing in various productions, took 'A' Level Music, and then studied Performing Arts/Music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, graduating with a BA (Hons) 2:1 degree in 2003. Since then, she has forged out a career as a busy professional singer, touring throughout the U.K, Europe, America, Canada and South America as a backing vocalist.
Emily focuses on each unique voice, aiming to help each person to reach their potential. She plans lessons according to each individual's needs and goals. Her sessions offer a comfortable, informal and relaxed atmosphere, encouraging learning in a very supportive and caring way. She can help with confidence issues, and offers guidance in vocal techniques, performance skills and breathing exercises. She has had classical training since the age of 14 (she gained Grade 8 Singing from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music aged 16) and has an understanding of the Estill Vocal Technique, which she was introduced to whilst doing her music degree at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Emily is a professional singer, songwriter and session vocalist, so students can benefit from her knowledge of live performance, and absorb some of her passion and enthusiasm!

Believing that everyone can gain from singing with others, one of Emily's greatest joys is working with groups of enthusiastic people who want to sing together! One of her most enjoyable ice-breakers when moving to a new school for Sixth Form was to put up a poster advertising an idea for a school Gospel Choir, and she went on to direct and lead a lively choir of over 30 members. The choir is lead by Sixth Formers to this day, and still continues to thrive at The School of St. Helen and St. Katharine, Abingdon.
From working with individuals striving to unlock their potential, to assisting music workshop leaders in coaching adults of varying abilities, to teaching groups of children at a performing arts academy, Emily enjoys helping others to explore and express their talents for music and singing. She has worked with children of all ages, leading workshops and visiting primary schools as a freelance coach and musician, and was lucky enough to work alongside the Musical Ambassador for New Orleans, Lillian Boutte, for several years, making a recording with Lillian and the Gospel Choir, and helping with Summer School workshops in Oxford.
Emily's enthusiasm and energy can inspire and involve people from all walks of life, and she is always looking for people who would like to sing, or already sing, to work with.
Emily can tailor-make options for workshops depending on what is required, and quotes will be calculated accordingly depending on numbers of people, distance to travel, length of workshop agreed, etc.
